Remember that elections here are not fixed, so they can jump up on you
like the Spanish Inquisition. They're very limited in terms of time, and
there is a finite amount of TV advertising given to each party. It's
completely different from the US system in that respect. It's mostly
billboard advertising that you see here during the shortish election
campaign. I do find it interesting and disappointing that spending has
increased greatly in recent years though.
Here's an idea for Britain to get with the program: elections every four years to choose a monarch.
