Did you get to see the one in the Gardner Museum in Boston before it was stolen?
Yes. It wasn't the greatest of Vermeers; but at least I managed to see it before it disappeared. Of course, at that time I also saw the stolen Rembrandt seascape, which is an amazing painting, very different for that artist.
So the Gardner paintings have never been recovered?
