What's the difference between "ignore a thread" and "mark thread as read"? I'm kind of primitive; I never did get around to understanding threads, except they are posts with the same Subject line.
if you mark a thread read it looks like all
other read threads and is still visible in the thread list, if you haven't
restricted it to "threads with unread messages". If you hit "k", the
entire thread disappears. I could see the messages only if I had
Thunderbird switch to individual article view (sorted by date, say, and
unthreaded).
Oh boy. I think you have to understand threads to get this. And then:
That's _very_ rudimentary.
I swore up and down I wasn't going to refer to myself as dumb. (*I* am not a bimbo! for the older among us.)
Another thing you can do is to right-click on the sender email and define a filter based on that email, thereby effectively plonking that sender.
Now *that* is useful to know. I already have a bazillion filters on sender name. Yet they are actively running a scheme to alter their names to get through. Who does that? It's easy to just say "assholes", but what is the logic? I want to understand the psychology of marauding.
One advantage of Thunderbird over Pan is that you can color-code messages, say assign one of five importance tags to them. I used to mark the messages I wanted to reply to in red and then went back to them later. Not sure how I'm going to do this in Pan.
I always said color was going to turn out to be important, yet I live in black and white.

Thank you, sweetums! I don't have time to be a techiehat any more, and will take all the help I can get.
Older and dumberer (and thus smarter), Max .
