Obama is the best educated president we've had in all 57 states. :-)
Wasn't that suppose to be in "...57 Varieties"? ;-)
Mark Borgerson
Actually, he may think there are 58!
Obama: "Over the last fifteen months, we1ve traveled to every corner of
the United States. I1ve now been in 57 states, I think =3F one left to go.
Alaska and Hawaii I was not allowed to go to S? my staff could not
justify it."
LOL! I think he must have been counting the state of exhaustion, the
state of confusion, etc. etc.
This week, he only has to worry about one: The State of the Union!
I wonder if he's going to be able to announce the passage and signing
of the health care bill?
Mark Borgerson
Hahahaha! I can assure you the president from the 58th state will NOT
be able to announce that since it hasn't even cleared congress yet and
I'm not sure they can clear it through congress without more pork, er,
"improvements" without it going to the Senate again where it will
clearly fail.
One option I heard on the news tonight is that the House could simply
accept the Senate version----which would mean that there would not
need to be another vote in the Senate. The house could then simply
pass the bill. That may be their only option,
In a political environment so precarious that a Democrat can lose a
statewide election in Massachussets...
...do you think that moderate/conservative House Democrats from
reddish districts are going to sign on to that Senate bill, with its
abortion mandate and with its unique boondoggles for Nebraska and
Louisiana and for organized labor?
since CNN says that
the Republican has won in Massachusetts. You may want to verify
that yourself, as you often voice some scepticism about media
reports! ;-)
Mark Borgerson
What you just said makes very little sense. Skepticism about news
media reports is justified because the mainstream news media is a
cheerleader for the liberals/Democrats and their agenda.
I guess that depends on how you define "mainstream news media".
It must not include Fox News, Glenn Beck, or George Will.
It doesn't.
Does that mean you don't include Fox News in the mainstream media,
Right.
or does it mean that nothing depends on how you define mainstream
media---or both??
I don't understand that last alternative. FOX is obviously not
mainstream media because it goes against the grain of what the other
networks are doing.
on shows like '24' and 'American Idol' definitely consider Fox
to be mainstream media.
I agree with that---and would even change it from 'average reporter' to
Anyway, those last two aren't reporters; they're
commentators. They don't report the news; they comment on it. They
don't pretend to be objective.
Whatever their status, they're certainly not cheerleaders for the
liberals/Democrats.
But the average reporter -- as opposed to commentator -- IS a
cheerleader for the liberals and Democrats -- even while posturing as
objective.
'large majority of reporters'. Heck, for 'average' you only need a
little over 50%.
However, the numbers of reporters who are very liberal may be smaller
than you expect. I don't see nearly as much bias in local TV stations
and local newspapers. But those folks don't have nearly the audience
of the big-city papers and big-three networks.
.
Obviously, skepticism is more justifiable when the cheerleader is
claiming victory than when the cheerleader is conceding defeat.
In November 2000, the news media announced that Gore had won Florida,
even while precincts in the largely Republican western panhandle were
still open.
But man, in 2004, they wouldn't announce that Bush had won Ohio (and
hence re-election), until the last dog was hung.
And in November 2008, they wouldn't announce that Californians had
approved Proposition 8 even AFTER the last dog was hung.
So if CNN says that the Republican has won, you can go to the bank on
it.
