(Denise) Michael, in your opinion, why is it that men are so much more
likely to kill themselves than women are? It seems to me that this
should be of great importance to anyone interested in men's issues.

Same reason why more men died on the Titanic. Our culture is
a lot more willing to offer help to women than to men. That's
why men are less likely to use the 'parasuicide' mode -- they
know people are less willing to help them, and they're ashamed
even to ask for help. Help is for our favorite hyphenated phrase
in this gruop -- women-and-children.
