I'm starting to believe that the Giants might actually win a World Series
in
my lifetime and/or that the Grizzlies might win the Pacific Coast League
championship in my lifetime.

The Grizzlies and Giants odds might improve if they can get a few tens
of millions of stimulus money! What could be better for consumer
confidence than a winning baseball team! ;-)


Yes, the Giants would be able to afford Manny Ramirez.



I never would have thought either of these things possible, but
apparently
everyone's fondest dreams are going to come true. There's something for
everyone on Santa's gift list.


I wonder if, in 40 years, Obama's speech will rank up there with:
"First, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the
goal,
before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning
him safely to the earth."

Kennedy achieved his goal in less than 10 years.


No, he didn't.

He died long beforehand.

And I don't quite see how humanity benefited from the moon landing, anyway,
or why it was worth the sacrifice entailed to accomplish it.
