You wouldn't say ANYTHING like this if the sexes were reversed.
Imagine a man in the dock, a woman's panicked 911 calls playing to the
court, describing in detail his assaults on her person. Imagine her
feeling guilty for the effect of this on his defense. Be honest for a
change: You'd see her as a pathetic victim of his domineering
behavior, and you wouldn't find it the least funny.
It's a problem, however much you feel the urge to trivialize it. Shut
your teeth if you can't be honest.
