In a free society, where women already have equal rights, it doesn't
really matter whether or not men take them "seriously"; the law does.

IOW, men are then FORCED to treat women as if they do "take them
seriously" whether or not they are sexist pigs who don't. Win win.

Hello Parg,

Whenever you brag about "the law", I'm reminded of the cheesy Stallone
film "Judge Dredd"

I didn't watch that film, Mark...probably because it was too "cheesy"
for my good taste. In fact, I find it rather amusing that you choose
cheesy films. Just shows what kind of marriage you'd likely
accept. :-)

Granted, Judge Dredd is not as highbrow as escapist romances you seem
to prefer such as "Pride and Prejudice" or "Bridget Jones' Diary" but
then again I at least enjoy the show for what it is and distinguish it
from real life. Howz Dr. Darcy? :-)

where Stallone monosyllibic drawls out his

allegience to "The Laaaw". Stallone is a self-parody but you don't>
have that excuse. You really do believe that "the law" has this
magical power to exist on it's own.

The law exists as society supports it, Mark, and society doesn't like
bitter boys like you. In fact, society spits on those who can't get
along well in civilized society.

On the contrary, it would appear that society has been rewarding women
to gestate and raise more and more anti-social young men and
encouraged and tolerated immigration from societies that do not
embrace equality for women. Has anyone informed young career women
voters yet that Al Gore wants to take away their SUV tanks and make
them ride the bus with the great unwashed masses? :-)

Look at Iraq: It now has a constitution and law that guarantees women
far more rights than they had under Saddam and certainly more than
they might have if Iranian and Syrian backed rebels take over.

That's not so, Mark. Women had more rights under Saddam's regime then
they can hope for in the new one based in civil war.

Really? What rights? What wasn't Saddam allowed to do?

And why should women lose their rights if they have the holy, precious
vote? Can't they just say: "We have 51% of the vote and some of us
are military supply clerks! Now you start wearing burkas because
we'll cast those votes again! That'll show you!"

Of course, we,
in the west didn't resort to civil war, EVEN when two elections were
stolen.

So it's a pity then that three elections weren't "stolen" too. :-) I
guess another presidential election is about to be "stolen" then.

We have built in safeguards in our system where, even when an
election is stolen, the vote can pull the country back out of the
hopper.

That makes a lot of sense. If an election is stolen where votes are
miscounted just keep voting.

What a delightfully contortionist statement. It makes the reader
wonder whether you are just being incredibly intellectually dishonest
or just plain delusional.

You see, Bush's dick wasn't long enough to challege our
democracy.

Yeah, he just got elected TWICE and is now finishing his term. That
shows him!

old Laura.

But> once western enforcement, by almost entirely men, of these
rights stops that's the end of the law.

Mark, you'd like to forget that women are part and parcel of our
military, our police forces, our firefighters. In fact, at one point
I put a cite up for an all female unit of firefighters.

It's not that I'd 'like to forget' but rather that your statement is
false: MEN are part and parcel of our military so much so that it's
not necessarily to scrounge through google to find a few tokens
serving in the military or able to raise ladders on their own power.
Men in the military and other risk services are not "man bites dog"
stories.

Let's turn this logic around for a moment: If women are "part and
parcel" of our military services and firefighters for a few white
elephants here and there, couldn't it be said then that women had
"equal representation" in the workplace all along? Madame Curie was a
great scientist, yes? So therefore, there's no need for special
"equal" preferences for women since they've had equality all along.
Super!

Oh, wait, this only works when you want to split credit for men for
women doing a few things. When BLAME needs to be assessed you lavish
that all on men (especially the nice civilized western men that
society spits on.)

I have a proposition, pull all the *male* US soldiers out of Iraq
and
leave the female soldiers so they can protect the Iraqi women...I don't>
think the Iraqi insurgents will be too afraid though, they know they>
won't have to fight them, all they'd have to do it threaten to "rape" all
the US female soldiers and they'll just kill themselves anyway :-)

Ken likes the idea of women dying. He smiles every time he approaches
that issue. But women didn't start this war, Ken...Bush did. He lied
to Americans about WMDs and then he engaged in an unwinnable war.

Clinton also "lied" then since he said the same thing. The U.N. also
was lying when it was enforcing sanctions against Iraq for failing to
document dismantling it's weapons of mass destruction.

If you didn't like Bush's social programs, you needn't have voted for
them. <wink> Poor Parg, whenever she loses it's because someone
steals from her. Maybe you should get a stronger western white male
protector. How about Edwards, the Breck Girl? Granted, he looks
sissy but if someone tries to bully him he'll sue their pants off. :-)

Women don't exist to clean up men's messes, Ken. In the meantime,
women are in the military and have the added fear of getting raped by
their own side. I call THAT amazing courage and I don't care what you
call it.

When token wimmin in the army start cumming home in body bags at the SAME
rate as men, then and only then will there be REAL equality in the armed
forces.

Again, women no longer care what bitter boys like you _think_ ; keep
in mind that women now represent just over 51% of those eligible to
vote. ;-)
They don't have to care.

So there you go! That's the solution: Just have the Iraqi women vote
for feminist equality even after the U.S. leaves. The VOTE will
protect them against Al Quaida and Iran backed rebels.

Whoever thunk it? :-)
