MIDDLE-AGED men who are angry and hostile also suffer accelerated
wear-and-tear on the lung, according to an unusual study published
today in a specialist journal.
Previous research has linked hostility and anger with heart disease,
asthma, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome and other disorders,
although the exact causes are unclear.
One theory is that anger and hostility affect hormone processes that in
turn disrupt the immune system, causing chronic inflammation that
damages tissue.
IOW, the normal wear and tear of living eventually causes death. We
begin dying a tiny bit each day from the time we are born.
I do find it somewhat interesting that a study was actually conducted
on middle aged men, of all people. Aren't most of these studies about
what's detrimental to health done with women, and are concerned mostly
with women's health? You usually never hear anything in the media
about men's health.
