Both sides work together to write an RFD to submit to news.groups. The
RFD-writing team has equal representation from both sides. Bret, who
represents the "two groups" side gets to be lead proponent. The
initial RFD is for one group and the "two-groupers" and "one-groupers"
make their cases during the formal discussion. Whichever side
convinces the Board (if either) gets their position in the final RFD.

Jayne: I'm wholeheartedly in favor of smm, but who's Bret? Will be
able to comment more when I know, thanks.

That's what we need to know and are not finding out. He claims to be
a former soc.men poster under another name but doesn't want to say
what that name was. Obviously this does not promote a lot of trust.
Perhaps even more seriously, he has not said very much about what
goals he has for smm.

I'm willing to work with him even under these circumstances. If his
motives are not good, that could be the best way keep him from causing
harm. I'm thinking of the old saying, "Keep you friends close and
your enemies closer."

I've been comfortable going ahead with smm without too much input,
because we have discussed it enough before that I know that a lot of
people like the idea. However, we have never discussed (or imagined)
this situation before. There is some risk involved in working with so
many unknowns. I want to get a sense of how many people want me to
take the risk or not.
