anyway now you know a bit of background, I have been
extremely difficult to get along with and want to do
something great for him! I was thinking along the lines
of a treasure hunt...what gifts...as men...would you all
like to see tied to the bottom of a balloon somewhere.?

Just say to him "I love you [his name]", and please don't ask _us_
what his name is. He is your partner, not ours. Do you actually KNOW
the man you are buying a house with? Anything about his interests, his
tastes, his passions? There is not even a shadow of a chance for a
bunch of anonymous usenet posters to know better what kind of gift
will please your partner.
