Ah, but I'm taken to task for my posting of yesterday, by someone who asks:
"Can't you just, for once, put aside your hatred of women and show respect
for mothers? I thought you Republicans were all about 'Teh Fambly Values?'"
Heh. Bitch, call me a Republican one more time, and I'll rip your tits off
and *** in your lungs.
You know, everyone does - and did - a sappy "Mother's Day" thing. Well, I
did my own mother's day. It's a private thing. And I did it for one
reason:
My mother did things worthy of the name of "Mother."
We've dumbed down Mother's Day. In a large sense, it's meaningless. I read
one of the cloyingly saccharine advice columns yesterday in one of the local
papers that was talking about sending a card or flowers to even the
"Childless by choice" so they don't feel excluded and left out. What crap.
What utter crap. That's not Mother's Day. That's "I have a *** and I
want a present too!" Day.
There is nothing inherently mystical about having a baby. Rats have babies.
Some reptiles give live birth. All manner of lower life forms do it each
and every day. Trailer trash, welfare queens, crack whores - all have
babies. Ovaries, uterus, birth canal, all working properly, add viable
sperm, cook for nine months - result? One baby. Nothing remarkable at all.
Happens every time. It's of no more biological significance than a bowel
movement.
The follow up? Ah, now that's a different story. That is what
differentiates a mother from a life support system for a baby factory.
My mother did the follow up. She quit a job she wanted to do, moved away
from her family, later took a job she didn't want to do, and made a lot of
sacrifices because she put her children and family first, her husband
second, and herself last. (For the record, different pronouns, same concept
for my father) It is what any parent worthy of the name does. Any parent
who whines about their wants and weighs them against their children's needs
should be taken out, and horsewhipped.
And shouldn't get a Mother or Father's Day card either.
A Mother's Day card - the candy, the flowers, breakfast in bed - these are
the thank-yous for a job well done. In order to merit them, you must do the
job well. Mother's Day is about the follow up, not the giving birth. There
are women who have given birth who don't rate a day off on Mother's day.
Then there are women who have never given birth and have been Mothers in
every meaningful sense of the word to children who should get a ticker-tape
parade.
The Mothers who have done that work, done that follow up? They deserve
those thanks. Whather they gave birth or not.
There are many baby factories with ears who have not. They do not deserve
it. They know who they are. And chances are, if you are scratching your
head and saying "Is he talking about me?" the answer is "Yes."
The point I make from yesterday is thus: One of the prime jobs of a Mother
is to raise the children to love and respect their father. It is said by
many that a man who walks away and makes a child fatherless is one of the
lowest forms of life around. Well, I submit for your edification this: A
woman who makes her children fatherless is in the same species as that man.
And for those women - turn in your Mother's Day card.
You don't deserve it.
