Many people are concerned with the fact that so many of America's
children are being raised in homes without Dads. It seems possible
that part of the reason for this may be that popular culture features
many negative Dad images -- the Dad who molests his daughters, the
drunken tyrannical Dad as well as the helpless bumbling fool Dad.
Who do you think some of TV's good Dads have been? I'm not up on
current TV shows but Andy Taylor, Ward Cleaver, "Father Knows Best,"
and the father in "The Courtship of Eddie's Father," all seem like
positive images of Dad to me. Do posters have other candidates for
good TV images of fathers?
"Joan of Arcadia" (cancelled last year) had a great father. He was a
tough cop and a loving father and husband. The father in "Veronica
Mars" is also very good.
