Aside from the part about masculinity, I can agree with this statement,
but I'd like to offer the reasoning behind it, is a lack of quality
education coupled with poor parenting skills. Years ago, most people
went to church and that gave children some kind of moral underpinning.
Today, many of us view church much the same as supersticion and if we
do that, and give up one set of ethics, those need to be REPLACED by
another set. I raised my own children to have values based on love. You
don't do harm to people you love. You don't hurt people, but rather,
you attempt to love them. Now, I'm not suggesting that I always hold
up to my own standards, because if I did I'd be Jesus. :-) Jesus was
all about love, as were some of the other prophets. If we sin, we sin
against love. And so, when you have a bunch of unloving people who are
provided a crass and limited source of education, you end up with
bitter people like, Rush Limbaugh, and Michael Savage.
They can't love and they can't use enough of the brains and hearts to
think. As to masculinity, it's more important to be a good person than
it is to be a good man.
