I have been finding it quite hard finding library related groups that
are not American. Only found one (Librarian) apart from this so will
try some personal ones. Will also try searching for newsgroups
outside of Google.

I got the same results in the last few years when searching groups.google.com.
One of the reasons is probably that we here in "good old Europe" :-) rather communicate via mailing lists, e.g. all the british LIS-Lists on www.jiscmail.ac.uk, or in Germany www.inetbib.de, or in Switzerland Swiss-Lib (http://lists.switch.ch/mailman/listinfo/swiss-lib). These are the ones I know and use.
