Dropping big bombs on cities wins wars.
Hmm, which "big bombs" were dropped on, say, Berlin?
Mike, if u r from the US, perhaps u can not understand the
psychological effect of the bombing a city.
I am, e.g., in Hamburg right now, where they've opened up a small
museum about the bombing of Hamburg, other majoy German cities,
and other European cities.
At certain points, due to the heat of the bombs, the temeperatures
became so high, that people, unaware of this, who tried to
cross the street, dropped into the melting asphalt. The breaking
of the moral of German people was trumendous. And it made a huge
impact on the overall war effort.
So, one can not neglect the effect of tactial bombing of the
cities.
And, in the example of Hamburg, as many other Allied or Axis cities,
when bombing occured, many non-military targets where leveled.
I came across, in the museum I mentioned, a map showing the
affected areas, where more then a half of the hit targets where
purely civilian areas.
