Thailand, which after all had been invaded by Japan. It even put

This Web site
http://www.geocities.com/thailandwwii
has very detailed accounts of the fighting
during the Japanese invasion. None lasted
over a day, but there were pitched battles
at Nakhorn Sri Thammarat, Pattani,
Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Songkhla. Casualties
ranged from 10-20 to over 100 Japanese killed
at Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Several a/c were destroyed at Prachuap Khiri Khan.
One Hawk III got airborne, attacked the Japanese
troopships, and then crashlanded. Another was
shot down by ground fire while taking off. Two
more were shot down. A Corsair never got off the
ground, but fired on the Japanese with its rear
guns. (Obviously not an F4U. Thailand had 70
O2U Corsairs, a biplane observation craft, with
a trainable twin .30-cal mount in the rear.)
