containing battalions. Germany I think
also had Regiments containing battalions.
In the British army, "Regiments" were
depots where battalions were formed and
deployed independently, though retaining
the regimental name, i.e. a Brigade was
made up of Battalions. "Tank Regiments"
were however operational units.
CompanySquadron in British armored units
PlatoonTroop in British armored units
