I often speak of the Pacific War, since it is difficult to speak of
WWII in the Pacific.
Pacific War: Dec 1941 - Aug 1945.
Sino-Japanese War: Jul 1937 - Aug 1945.
To do otherwise is to cause problems with the dating of WWII, since
the hostilities in China began before the unpleasantness in Poland.
