Hi all,

I have been doing some research on German and Prussian military
history, and the books I have been reading often refer to issues of the
magazine militär-wochenblatt. I have two basic questions: First, Can
anyone point me to a source that definitely defines or describe just
what this magazine is? And second, does anyone know where I can get my
hands on copies of this magazine? All I have found so far is the
following German wikipedia link:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milit%C3%A4r-Wochenblatt

It's helpful, but it does not tell me what libraries hold copies of the
magazine.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you tried asking a librarian?

A librarian specializing in periodicals should be able to determine where copies of this magazine are held. A librarian at a military college like West Point might be your best bet

Bingo! A quick check of the USMA library catalog says they have all 127 volumes - 1816 through 1947 - of this publication on microfilm.

Gotta be something approaching a record for length of continuous publication though I suppose some scientific journals probably exceed that.

Cheers,

but a periodicals librarian at any university or college or even one at a public library ought to know how to find this out.

I should point out that I'm NOT a librarian and I may be over-optimistic about what librarians can find. Then again, I've been pretty impressed at what they can find when librarians go looking.

Remember too that interlibrary loans may make it possible for you to get these materials in your area without having to travel to libraries that have issues of this magazine.
