The only "online" ref I have been able to find is from a
cemetary listing in Arkansas...

LAMBERT, Austin H., b. 10/6/1916, d. 3/26/1945
ARK. PFC 276 Sig. HV Cons CO WW II

Never have I came across anything with "HU Cons" or "Sig HU"
HQ units where normally listed as HQ. The ONLY ref I can get
on HU is the "Hospital Unit". But from what I have gained
from talking to a lot of other folks, a Signal Corp Hospital
unit Construction Company is a non-existant thing or so
specialized and limited to maybe 1-3 in the whole theatre, it
went un-noticed. It really just seems highly improbable and
in all the things that my Father did, that he related to me,
being in or working on a hospital was not one of them. When
it wasnt his day to plant poles or run T&T line the only
other thing he did was slap on a MP sleeve and run security
for the crew. That was thier SOP, every day or two they would
swap out out would get thier hands dirty and who would stand
guard.

I am 99% convinced that the HU is a typo and it really should
read HV. Considering I only have been able to find ONE
referance to a Sig HV Con Co, It tells me at least that
although hard to track down, they existed. I cant even
start to say the same about a Sig Hu Cons Co.
