Ballet slippers as wartime shoe

LIFE magazine reported during the war years that young women wore shoes
styled from ballet slippers. These were made from cloth and were
comfortable, inexpensive, and not rationed.

These shoes have come and gone in style over the years and I noticed
they're back in style again, with vibrant patterns this time.
