The first real scientific instrument given to man was the telescope,
Interesting news to the inventors (or recipients, if we're speaking of
things "given") of clocks, astrolabes, cross-staffs, balances, and so on.
The
telescope showed man the planets Venus, Mercury Mars were not Gods but
really planets, like the Earth . Held in orbit around the Sun.
Which as we all know -- know so well that it has become mythologized,
regrettably -- was highly unwelcome to the most powerful supporters of the
New Testament. And don't try blaming just Rome for this.

Infinity served as a beerier between the physical and the Metaphysical
making it imposable for science to venture into the realm of God.
Well, I can hardly disagree with "beerier" here, though personally I'd be
inclined to take stronger drink whn reading this stuff. Nonetheless, it's
again funny that the major powerful defenders of the NT (you know, the
book that Revelations is in?) absolutely hated the idea of an infinite
universe, and some of them found it necessary to burn a guy at the stake
for that among some other heresies.
While Mathematicians were blaspheming the residence of God, they also
began blaspheming God himself, Saying God was dead, or God never
existed.
What is it about mathematicians, anyway? Does anyone with some small
knowledge of history of science know why they have been so fearsome to so
many people who know nothing whatsoever about them? Does it go back before
the 1600s? Certainly there was hostile talk then about Mathematicians
putting out stupid and dangerous ideas, like the Earth and other planets
orbiting the Sun. (See above.) But in classical times Plato thought
mathematics was just the cat's pajamas; and even Aristotle wasn't actually
hostile but just didn't think it was the right tool for studying nature.
Is this hostility an invention of modern times, or does it owe something
to the wickedness of the Paynim horde (Muslims to you) in forcing all that
subversive rigorous thinking into a Europe that had mostly managed to
forget about such stuff for centuries? Could it have started with the
opposition to Hindu-Arabic numerals and double-entry bookkeeping? That
sounds like the right stuff to me. Blaming the Japanese is out of date,
and blaming Canada is inadequate to be anything but a joke; but Mahmoud is
a fine target.
...
Jehovah severely punished Europe for blaspheme, with the death of 50
million Christians and Jews, No country was spared.
So you would understand why he punished Europe, The punishment was
directly connected to the Atheist movement.
...
Well, I can't get snarky about this. History, I know some small amount
about, but I admit that as to the intentions of God Almighty I know no
more than Jesus did (Matthew 24:36), and probably even less. So I pass.
