Would you believe that NOBODY at that session mentioned "dark

Would you believe that I pointed out the whole "Dark Ages" - nonsense
years ago as a typical Anglo-Saxon historiographic construct ?

But I'm glad to hear that the English speaking world has reached the
same point we were nearly 20 years ago.
Now that it's been mentioned, I realize I didn't hear it in any of the
sessions I attended, either.

Yes, people are starting to see the light instead of projecting the British
special case to the rest of Europe.

We Brits project the "British special case" only to Britain because we are an island and geographically and culturally separate from Continental Europe.

When did that happen? Being culturally separate that is?
Is it the Celtic heritage? The Saxon one? The Danish one?
The Norman one?

It's always been that way. Non-British people probably don't understand and can't contemplate the feeling that the people of the United Kingdom have in feeling that we are "separate" from the rest of Europe. We even call Europe, "The Continent". It's as if we are a mini-continent on our own.

I think you have to be British to understand this and have empathy with it. As an island race, it's part of how we are.

And oh yes, is France geographically separate from Germany?
Is Norway geographically separate from Denmark?

Couldn't say how they feel. I'm not from any of those nations.
