Re: (Rathe short) Actual Medieval Stuff according to the History ???Channel...

I've been enjoying the food exchanges, but must admit neither of you has
described any of my favorites 8-) I'm somewhere in the middle, I
guess.

Sometimes I like a steak, but it's not a favorite, and I prefer a huge
salad(only vinegar or same and oil) with a variety of fresh/raw stuff in
it to baked or mashed or whatever potatoes. Rice combinations are good,
too. Asparagus and beets are the only vegetables I prefer cooked.
Asparagus in asparagus season in Germany in many forms: heaven!

For true decadence: deep-fried battered frog legs and french-fries(which
latter I like better than I should) and, again, a huge salad.

But I've learned that I like many kinds of things I never met when young
as well, such as Chinese food generally, calamari, and several strange
things I've eaten on trips to Europe.

And for a really long meal, the medieval banquets my SCA friends put
together, which have ranged from good to fantastic over the years. Once
in a while I've tracked down recipes of dishes I particularly loved.

Nothing pickled.
