It would have to be a big comet to change the worlds climate
significantly. Look at the arguments for global warming today.

It doesn't have to be that big as comets go. Besides, we only need to
pass through its dust tail.

Tails of a comet have little material, the Earth has gone though tails
of comets many times eg during the passage of Halley's Comet in 1910,
the Earth passed through the comet's tail.
