That was also Bede's motivation and as most chroniclers
came from within the church such bias can be assumed
in most sources. How can relative reliability be judged ?
By intercomparing sources, by evaluating what is written
against the need to show the actions of God, and by
estimating the probabilities.
And you come out understanding that there are no facts
in this business. Only probabilities.
