I prefer my pets bigger but your parasite collecting sounds enjoyably
eccentric.
On the subject of bugs, we inherited a battered book that had belonged
to a man who had been a surgeon in the Boer War. To our astonishment we
found out that while working in India he had discovered how malaria was
transmitted. It was fascinating until I realised that he was
experimenting on condemned criminals and the pictures of the slides
were post mortem blood samples. I'm sure there must be a museum or
somewhere that could make use of it but I haven't found one yet. Its in
very poor condition.
He must have been ahead of the others in this field.
