Re: Greek Fire

Greek Fire has a number of well known characteristics:

As it was mentionned before, some of them may be invented by the various authors. And I'm a bit perplexed bit this one:

Can be projected by siphon or catapult type device

To me, that seems contradictory in itself. "Projected by siphon" makes me think of a sort of liquid, or at least something of low viscosity (in order to go through some kind of pipe), whereas "projected by a catapult" evokes more something of high viscosity, maybe not solid but certainly not as fluid as water (it seems to me quite difficult to project liquid in a catapult-like mechanism without having drops falling outside -- and that certainly was the last thing the greeks would have wanted!).

I'm I wrong?

Or were these catapults projecting some kind of "bombs" filled with the fire?
