Why do you impose your post modern notions of atheism on Classical Antiquity?
Where do you see I am doing such a thing?
Everything you wrote below.
Then you must have a definition of atheism different from that in common usage. Perhaps you could define it the way you use it.
Absence of god, denying god, godless. The word is only slightly Anglicized from the Greek. You know, Giwer, the "alpha privativum" expressing want or absence as a prefix to "theos," spelled in Attic theta, epsilon, omicron, sigma in the nominative, singular, masculine, form.
I still do not see it in what I have written. The trivial observation that the people who run religions are charlatans who do not believe the BS they preach has nothing to do with the existence of gods. The existence of religions has no bearing upon the existence of gods. They are unrelated concepts.

Geez, Giwer, you didn't see it. Again. Are we supposed to be surprised?

Do not see what? They are unrelated concepts.

Are you an atheist, Giwer? Don't obfuscate. That was a direct question. Provide a direct answer.
Of course. Would you insult me by saying I am not?

The prejudices inherent in your atheist world view are obvious to even the casual reader of your bigoted tripe, Giwer. I just wanted to get you on the record. Thank you.

You are welcome. I recognized you as defending your religious beliefs from the beginning. It is hard to understand why you did not see I do not have beliefs in gods. It has been clear to me from the beginning you are desperate to preserve you religious beliefs in the fact of overwhelming fact.

We are not that far apart. I simply believe in one less god than you.

Why are Hesiod's "Theogony" and Ovid's "Metamorphoses" important to the study of Greco-Roman culture and history?
Tell me the modern reasons imposed upon them to describe why they are important.
They are the ideological structure upon which the cultures were built. That is the ancient reason as well as the modern reason they are important, no, vital.
That is not modern. That is just plain stupid. Cultures exist before someone sets it to meter.
The literary form in which the idea is expressed is not relevant to the issue. Try again, Giwer. Find evidence to support your silly ass opinion, not merely your usual restatement of what the nincompoop Giwer thinks.
Try sticking with what you implied rather than my expression of it. It matters not who says, writes or speaks anything about a culture. It is what it is and pre-exists any observation, description, or expression thereof and continues unchanged despite same. A culture will change when the people please and not a moment before.

No evidence again, Giwer. Merely more of your own silly ass and bigoted opinion. What is it about the word "evidence" that gives you so much trouble, Giwer?

What evidence do you expect? It is a fact. A culture is not governed by its religion. Before the murderers showed up the Jews of Palestine were as proud of their Arabic culture and heritage as their Muslim neighbors. Many Jews as well as Christians fought along side Mohamed.

Repeatedly in this and other threads other posters and I have requested that you produce evidence to support your silly and preposterous claims and kook conspiracy theories of history. You have never provided evidence. Instead of actually supplying evidence that might actually support your kook theories, you maunder and snivel like you just did above.

As I have said, I have you interest in responding to the crap you make up about what I say and expecting me to defend your inventions.

I am not interested in bickering with you.
