Dear people, I offer "Exhibit A":
http://www.luxor-westbank.com/merenptah_e.htm
For the benefit of those of you who are impatient,
or need things spelled out for you. I perform all
of the work myself...
To quote the page:
: The original of the stela nowadays is exhibited in
: the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. In the temple of
: Merenptah you find a replica, done in order of Dr.
: Jaritz.
What is significant about that? Well, read on...
The page then goes on to say, in describing it's
photos...
: Picture 1: For orientation: The layout of the
: complete temple complex
: Picture 2: Upper part of the replica of the
: so-called "Israel Stela"
: Picture 3: Horst Jaritz explains to us in "his"
: museum how they put the fragments of a stela
: together
Here's the photo of the replica:

Now, guess where the part that says "Israel" is
located.... go on, guess...
Obviously it is your first experience with how archaeology is done.
Sometimes it is incredible how they put the stuff together.
