There was a bit of sectarian violence in Switzerland during
the reformation, think Geneva, John Calvin, Ulrich Zwingli, etc.

That was a while ago...

Yes it was, but less than a thousand years ago. More like 500.

IIRC, there was a fishermen war between Iceland and either
Ireland or Scotland. This happened about 30 years ago.
Perhaps the Danes were protecting only the coasts and
not the fisheries.

David, Scotland is not an independant country so Iceland could not have
been at war with them.
Denmark have not been protecting the fisheries of Iceland since the
early 1920´s, the war (wars) you mention took place in 1958/59 between
Iceland and the UK, when Iceland extended their fishing limits to 12
Nautical miles, in 1972/73 with the UK, when Iceland extended out to 50
NM and in 1975/75 with the UK, Belgium and West Germany when Iceland
extended the fishing limits out to 200 NM.
Iceland was victorious on all occasions.

In terms of war/peace status this was technically a police action
against ships from an allied nation. Iceland and the UK are both
founding members of NATO.

And Reykjavik was not seriously affected by the fighting either. :-)

The WW2 occupation of Iceland was a weird affair.
