This article contains much information on John Gifford of Cirencester,
Gloucs., someone I've posted on ... from time to time. Poyntz
believes that the Gloucestershire saltpetreman from the 1620s; the
Cirencester gent. who witnessed the attack on Lord Chandos; the Forest
of Dean ironworks fellow; the husband of Frances Poyntz; and the man
who died at Wiveton, Norfolk, were all the same person.

Does John Giffard of Wiveton name a son John in his 1558 PCC will?
