RE: Correction for Prudence Ashe, wife of Oliver Manwaring

Which record to obtain perhaps would depend on what one hopes to accomplish..

It may be infinitely more worthwhile, at least from a proof standard, to try to attempt glancing at the original Harley ms with Henry Ashe's jottings in the Visitations. This would at least prove that Henry did indeed say his son-in-law was Oliver Manwaring.

Speaking of which, it does appear no more than circumstantial that the Oliver Manwaring in New London who we are told died in 1723 is identical to the man of the same name who was son-in-law of Henry Ashe. There are other contemporary Oliver Manwarings in England.

What evidence is there that this is the right fellow, or is it just another case of "Name's the Same." Could be a house of cards...

There is the option of ordering a film of the registers from your local
Mormon Family History Centre. In the case of Sowton baptisms the film
number is 0917531.

This is why I asked Kevin earlier - if I recall correctly, this is a
filming of a transcript, not of the original.
