I don't see that at all Pat.
The IPM you cited or its extract states clearly that Edward was the
son of Thomas. It says Edward is his "cousin" VIZ "SON of Thomas his
SON and heir"
Edward is his Grandson.
Consider this Pat. John Stanhope, when he was heir of his own
grandfather was then "upwards of 23" 14H6.
His son Thomas already was of age to go to war with the King 14E4.
This is the son who married Mary Jerningham.
HIS Son Edward was at the time of the IPM (1493-4) "aged 24 and more".
Hardly the right generation to be a first cousin to the man born 45 to
50 years earlier.
