what is the testimony which connects any attested Fernan as the father of Diogo Fernandes ???
if you continue to claim that the father is knwn, you should guve such evidence.
Rather, I have read that no attestation is existent about the father of Diogo, other than the patronymics say that he was a Fernan.
Secondly, if there is a Fernan present as witness of a royal charter, and listed just in front of count Rodrigo of castile, still, is there any good arguments which makes this Fernan as a Castilian ??
the king may have had magnates from several parts of the realm with him... and being next to count of Castile in a list, does not necessarily prove a castilian origin/holding, but only proves that both belonged to the court of the same king.
The fact remains that as far as Diogo Fernandes is known, he is attested in contexts of Portucale-Galizia. Nothing else is necessarily possible to conclude from his locations.
Now, Oneka may well have been daughter of a middling sort of Castilian gentry family, and people there tended to have Basque roots...
(otoh, Oneka may as well have been daughter of a south-western Galizian family with some basque root...)
