Dame Alice (Dymoke) Skipwith (d. ca. 1550), widow of Sir William
Skipwith of Ormsby, Lincs. (d. 1547) left a will, dated June 29, 1549,
and probated 1550 (PCC Coode). The will, which names her children,
can be downloaded from the UK's The National Archives website by
selecting wills "Before 1858," "documents online," and then typing
"Skipwith" in the search box.
An "a2a" abstract of accounts rendered Michaelmas 1538-1540 to Sir
William Skipwith in right of his wife Alice, leaves absolutely no
doubt this is Alice, daughter of Sir Lionel Dymoke. Lionel's name is
sometimes rendered Leonel, Lyon, or Leon.
Not wishing to spoil anyone's fun, those desiring a copy should
support the UK's effort to make material of this type readily
available. It will be delivered as a PDF file which can be parked on
your hard-drive.
I'll give you a wave, but it's hardly smug--I've no need for cheap
theatrics.
