Dear Tom ~
The parentage of Dorothy Browne, wife of Edmund Lee, Esq., of Pitstone
and Stantonbury, Buckinghamshire, is indicated by two separate
visitations:
1. Harvey et al. Vis. of Oxford 1566, 1574, 1634 & 1574 (H.S.P. 5)
(1871): 165–170 (Ashfield pedigree: “Edmundus Lee duxit Dorothea
sororem Anthonii Browne, Vicecomitis Montacute.”).

2. Benolte et al. Vis. of Sussex 1530 & 1633–4 (H.S.P. 53) (1905): 83–
84 (Browne pedigree: “Dorothey [Browne] ux. Edmund Lee of Stanton.”).
Next, Notes & Queries, 5th series, 1 (1874): 241 likewise includes a
transcript of genealogical chart of the Browne family "from an old
family MS." This pedigree gives the same marriage: "Dorothy Browne.
= Edmund Lee of Stanton Barry, co. Bucks, Esqr. of ye Lees of
Quarendon."

That Edmund Lee's wife was named Dorothy is further confirmed by the
administration on his estate which was granted to his widow, Dorothy,
on 31 March 1599. For this administration record, see Genealogist
n.s. 9 (1892): 160.
The marriage of Dorothy Browne and Edmund Lee is further mentioned by
the historian, Michael C. Questier, in his recent book, Catholicism
and Community in Early Modern England (2006): 101.

Evidence which proves the names of their two daughters, Dorothy and
Mary, and the death date of Edmund Lee, Esq., is found in PRO
Document, E 179/79/245:
"Constat dated 9 June 1601 states that the incomes of Dorothy and
Maria Lee, daughters and co-heirs of the late Edmund Lee, esq, of
Stantonbury (died 20 March 1599), were in the hands of Queen Elizabeth
owing to the girls’ minority."

You may also wish to consult the pedigree of the Lee family found in
Hist., Description & Antiquities of …Thame, by Lee, published in 1883,
pages 563–564.
I trust this answers your question.

Hi Doug,
My sincere thanks your the response, I'll check out each of the leads
you provided. Please note:
I have no doubt that Dorothy Browne married Edmund Lee.
I have no doubt that Dorothy was daughter of Anthony Browne.
I am also convinced that Dorothy and Edmund had daughters - Dorothy
and Mary.
My question was, and still is: What ties her to THAT Anthony Browne
who married Mary Dormer? If the answer to this is:
Harvey et al. Vis. of Oxford 1566, 1574, 1634 & 1574 (H.S.P. 5)
(1871): 165–170 (Ashfield pedigree: “Edmundus Lee duxit Dorothea
sororem Anthonii Browne, Vicecomitis Montacute.”).
then I'm happy to have the answer, but still question if it provides '
a strong tie'?
Since I have over 1000 more cows, than books at my disposal, I'd
appreciate any expansion of the information in 'Visitation of Oxford'
1566 &c.
