Robert White's father, Sir John Whyte, Sheriff and Lord Mayor of
London, bore arms of per fess Azure and Or a pale counterchanged on
each Azure a roundel Argent charged with three bars wavy Vert on each
Or a lion's head erased Gules langued Azure.
The same arms (except Sable substituteded for Azure) were born by John
White of Mickleton, Gloucestershire, the father of Edmund White,
Citizen and Haberdasher of London. Mary White, his grand-daughter,
married Humphrey Davie, who was a New England immigrant.
Can any one provide information on the relationship between Sir John
Whyte of London and Adershot, and John White of Mickleton, Gloucester?

Thomas Benolt's "Pedigrees from the Visitation of Hampshire" indicates that
Robert White was fourteen years old at his father's IPM. By some kind of
technicality, Robert White is considered a knight and appears as such in W..
A. Shaw's "The Knights of London" of 1905. I don't think much is known
about his wardship.

I think that has to be modified a bit.
Robert White who d in 1512, how do we know he was knighted?
and also he was a minor at his father's death
Was he in ward to the King ? or was his wardship and custody of his body
granted to Eleanor's successive husbands?
That should be investigated. Somebody handled the actual day-to-day activity
at South Warneborough and it wasn't five year old Robert :)
