Hundreds if not thousands of people in Canada and the US are descendents of Guillaume d'Aubelin and his wife Francoise Brachet who lived in France in the early 16th century.
This couple's daughter Claude d'Aubelin (who d 1583 Montebeliard), married Francois Hotman (1524-90) the famous author, jurist, and revolutionary thinker.
Mousing around, seemingly at-random but really with a sinister purpose, I discovered that the Brachet name pulls up some interesting books, evidently there's something to be found behind them, which I haven't yet found.
At any rate, those interested in filling out this family will want to add this morsel
