Re: Wells - Tuttle of Northampton

I'm glad to hear you found Mr. Jacobus' Hale-House book helpful.

Good luck in your future sleuthing.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

DR,

you're that ignorant. I checked the book you mentioned. Not complete.

There's more to these families.

My observations so far, the wills were mostly 1/3 of a page to 1 page
long for most of the testators. Except in the case of Richard Tootehill,
he had FOUR pages long of will.

John Wells did not mentioned only his daughter and 4 grandchildren of
his daughter. There were more than 15 of them. surnames included, Canald
(?), Wolfor (?), Libma (?), Marshall, Lynsey, Clark, Pettit, Coxe, Gibb,
Barwick as well as Tootell. The will was 2 pages long.

Sir William Longe had Thomas Tootell (Richard's father) as one of his
witnesses. Why him?

Elizabeth and Richard Lyncoln (Lincoln, Lyncolne) had Richard as witness
to their wills. What's the connection?

I personally do NOT think DR ever read the wills himself. Not just
Northampton court but also many other courts throughout England.

When ready, I will ask anyone on the list to take a crack at the scanned
images of the wills I made copy of. They are in old English script.

Regrets: Symon Tuttell will is missing, probably pilfered before
microfilming took place back in 1960s. It was last will in Vol. O, 2nd
Series. Also Mrs. Elizabeth Whitbred, Vol. K, missing more than 300
pages, the index for Vol. K had a commentary saying page 252 to 600 were
missing, but by time of microfilming, page 207 onward missing.
Elizabeth's was on page 247.
