Charles Comte de Valois had probably "only" two daughters named
Isabelle. The Isabelle duchess of Bretagne seems to had never existed
despite whe can read in the Histoire Généalogique of Pere Anselme vol
1. she is not mentioned in contemporary documents and there was
probably some confusion with her sister Jeanne. The list of Charles's
children can be established as below:
-by his first wife Marguerite d'Anjou:
1- Jeanne *1293 (aged 2 years in oct 1295) + Fontenelles abbey 7 march
1353
engaged 23 oct 1295 with Edward son of king John Baliol then married 19
june 1305 Guillaume Comte de Hainaut. During her widowhood she became
abbess in Fontenelles.
2 -Philippe later king of France. *1294 (or late in 1292)
3 -Charles Comte d'Alençon *circa 1295 + killed Crecy 26 august 1346
4 -Marguerite *1296 or 1297 + 7 july 1342
engaged 6 oct 1310 and married 18 july 1311 Guillaume Comte de Blois
5 -Catherine *1298 or 1299 + young
-by his second wife Catherine de Courtenay
6 -Catherine *christened in Sienna 18 nov 1301 + Napoli 2 oct 1346
engaged 24 march 1303 Hugues de Bourgogne (annuled 6 april 1312) then
married 30 july 1313 Philippe d'Anjou Prince de Tarente
7 -Jeanne *late 1303 (probalby in Napoli) + 9 july 1363
married 1318 Robert d'Artois
8 -Jean *between 1304 and 1307 + young in or after 1308
9 -Isabelle *circa 1306 + (plague) 11 nov 1349
a nun in Poissy before 15 mars 1314 then abbess of Fontevrault 1342
-by his third wife Mahaut de Chatillon:
10 -Marie *just before 27 nov 1309 + Bari 24 oct 1331(where she was in
pilgrimage to recover heath) married by contract 4 oct 1323 Charles
d'Anjou Duc de Calabre
11 -Isabelle *circa 1313 (and assuredly before 5 march 1314) + Paris 26
july 1383
engaged 5 oct 1322 and married in or before 1337 Pierre I Duc de
Bourbon
12 -Blanche *1316 + Prague (tuberculosis) 1 august 1348
engaged 5 may 1323, married may 1329 Charles de Luxembourg
13 -Louis *september 1318 + 2 nov 1329
