To add to what Stan Diamond wrote about Ruth Behar:
Ruth's mixed emotions on visiting Poland and unexpected but very heartwarming
meeting in Warsaw with a former Jewish resident of Goworowo were documented in an
essay, recently published by Nextbook.org under the title: "The Good Book; In
Poland, a long-ignored heirloom unlocked a family's past."

We will be showing Ruth's evocative, moving documentary, "Adio Kerida: Goodbye
Dear Love," at the film festival taking place a the upcoming IAJGS Conference in
Chicago. In this film, she returns to her native Cuba to profile the island's
remaining Sephardic Jews and chronicle her family's journey to the U.S. as
Cuban-Jewish exiles. This poignant film highlights themes of expulsion and
departure that are at the crux of the Sephardic legacy.

Viewed in comparison/contrast to her Polish sojourn, viewers may come away with
new points of view on how we encounter our past and incorporate what we've learned
into the creation of our multi-faceted family trees, whether Sephardic or
Ashkenazi. An essay on her Sephardic research is also available at this same URL.
