There is really no such thing as a "Jewish name", because there
are many examples of non-Jews with names like COHEN or WEINBERGER,
and Jews with names like SMITH or MACDOUGALL.

A google search for "mosier family origins" turns up various
sources, including a MOSIER family web site at
<http://www.delmars.com/family/mosier1.htm>, and some others,
but no apparent connection to anything Jewish, and neither did
searching for "genealogy:mosier" (a built-in feature of google).
In fact, searching for "+mosier +jew" didn't turn up any
interesting connections, either. If anything, the MOSIERs seem
to have suffered discrimination as Protestants, and emigrated as
a result.

All I came onto the site to do was to find out if my great-grandmother's
maiden name was of Jewish origins and how it came about and all I can find
is lists of people who've lived with variants of the family name. Does this
mean that the name Mosier is actually Jewish (sounds and looks like it could
come from Moses/Moishe) or is it just that there have been some people on
the list happen to have similar sounding names to that?
