The 50,000+ survivor interviews conducted by Steven Spielberg's Shoah
Foundation from 1994 to 2005 were turned over to the University of
Southern California in January 2006. An index to the collection, now
known as the Shoah Foundation Institute Visual History Archive, can be
found at
http://tc.usc.edu/vhitc/(blf5kv2iutqkvur5apj0nnu4)/default.aspx
Alternatively, go to the main page of the USC Shoah Foundation Insttitute
http://college.usc.edu/vhi/
then click The Testimonies, Access to the Testimonies, and Testimony Catalogue.
The Testimony Catalogue is searchable by interviewees' first and last
names, cities of birth, ages, camps and hiding places, and many other
variables.
For example, searching for survivors born in Tluste, Poland (now
Tovste, Ukraine), I found 14 people -- three interviewed in Israel,
four in South America, one in Canada, and six in the United States.
Descriptions of these survivors include their dates of birth, Hebrew
names, maiden names, wartime locations, interview locations, and more.
(Note: Click Search on the top right of the page.)
A number of institutions in the United States, Germany, and Australia
have acquired copies of the entire Visual History Archive. See a list
of locations at
http://www.usc.edu/libraries/archives/arc/libraries/sfa/index.php, a
map of locations at
http://college.usc.edu/vhi/cms/testimoniesaroundtheworld.php, and
information on access at
http://college.usc.edu/vhi/testimonyservices.php .
So far as I can tell, there is no remote access to the interviews.
