My GGF Tobias BLATT and his wife Paje AXELRAD were born in Nowosiolka...where
this town is located?
My GF Gedalje Blatt was born in Debina and his father worked on a needle tree farm according to his birth certificate issued in Jezierna. The Ellis Island website states he emigrated from Bialaglowy. Is Debina near Bialaglowy and were there needle tree farms in this area?
Douglas,
Nowosiolka is known nowadays in Ukrainian as Novosyulka and is identified in the ShtetlSeeker database as located at 4947 2524
http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp
Place is located 1.5 miles South from Zaliztsy (ex Polish: Zalozce) on the left
bank of the Seret River, and 3.2 miles ENE from Beloglovy (ex Polish: Bialoglowy).
Debina was a small homstead, most probably it has been incorporated into nearby village Neterpince, located at 4944 2521. Neterepince are indeed very close to Bialoglowy located just 1.4 miles SSE. All those shtetls are located within the few
miles radius from town Zalozce.
If you would like to visualaize as all those towns looked like before WWI, please go to Austro-Hungarian topographic map circa 1910 at
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/digkonyv/topo/3felmeres.htm
Click on the quadrant with Brody name, magnify map and look for Zalozce. Town is located on the left bank of the Seret River close to the river's two large lagoons.
Nowosiolka is shown just South from Zalozce. You will notice Baloglowy on the roght side from the Seret River located on the smaller stream, a contributory to Seret R. Neterpince and Debina are both located SSE from Bialoglowy. As you can see
Debina is not even identified as a village, there are no houses shown, and as I have been speculated, it was probably a homestead. Town name is derived from Oak (Polish: Dab.
