re Ben Forman's German letter and Evertjan's statement that this is ordinary
German but that he finds it too difficult to read.
Yes, of course it is ordinary German and I have packets of letters with far
worse writing than this and I keep meaning to tackle them - a huge task. It is
a matter of staring at it till one can read it or, if impossible, perhaps
sending it to experts who may charge for this work. Every individual style was
different unfortunately. The longer one works at it, the more obvious it becomes.
This letter, which I have just glanced at, is typical in that it is fairly
mundane and leaves most things a mystery: ie it answers a previous letter.
Names are generally not mentioned because the reader knows about whom they are
writing. Here we learn in Line 4 after the Dear xx line: "jedenfalls sind die
Leute mit dir zufrieden ... " [ie the people appear to be pleased with you, ie
Ruth is probably working for someone in service perhaps:

And in line 8: Momentan ist Heinz? auf Urlaub; leider sind 3 Wochen Urlaub zu
schnell ... at the moment Heinz is on holiday, unfortunately 3 weeks holiday
are over too quickly. There is mention of Brussels on p 2

I have sent in this reply with clues and a partial translation, because now
someone with more time may be able to decipher it all. After all, hieroglyphics
and cuneiform writing were deciphered with fewer clues.
