Many people have requested Obituary lookups on this
site. There are several pay-for Obituary data bases,
some available at your local library. However, there
is another free source.

Use the Web to look up the name of the closest
library to the place of death. Most of them have
access to the Newspaper archives for that area, or
know which town does.

Once you find the right library, contact them and
make a request for a lookup. Most libarians, are happy
to do so. I have found that a polite call works best.
Also many libraries are open on Sunday so you can use
those free long distance Weekend minutes if you have
them. Always ask for the genealogy department first.
If they have one, they know just what to do.

If you don't want to call, you can always write or
email them. Also libraries now have an "ask librarian"
menu on their Web site.
