As part of a posting about NYS Surrogate's Courts by Eileen Polakoff
(eileenpolakoff@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx), she wrote,

"You should be aware that in New York City (and likely other counties) you
cannot do the search in one day."

Surrogate's Courts are NYS State Courts, and each of NYS' 62 counties (a
political sub-division of NYS) has its own Surrogate's Court.

Each of NYC's 5 boroughs (an administrative district of NYC) is currently
coterminous with a NYS county, and thus the 5 Surrogate's Courts that cover NYC
would each have the name of the county, not the name of the borough, as part of
its name:

.......Borough............County

.......Manhattan.........New York
.......Staten Island.....Richmond
.......Brooklyn...........Kings
.......the Bronx..........Bronx
.......Queens............Queens

I hope this information is useful or, at least, interesting.
