What I have found is that "death certificate" images are *not* available.
The reason is that they contain causes of death, which were deemed to be

Under Florida privacy laws the cause of death is not a public records for 50
years following death and it is normally blacked out when you receive a
certificate from the state. However, a spouse or direct descendant can
obtain a certificate including cause of death by writing to Jacksonville and
providing the necessary proof of relationship (haven't checked recently).

The state holds all death records. While many counties still have their own
copies, others only keep the past three years. The climate in Florida makes
storage difficult and expensive and many counties no longer have oodles of
space to protect old records. For example, Orange County only keeps the
last three years. The Orange county Court House has microfilmed old probate
files and does not retain the originals. Other counties have their own practices.

Ancestry.com has placed on line the Florida death index from 1936-1998. I
have not seen any death images on line although there are selected marriage
records on some county court web sites. I don't know of any county that has
routinely put these records online.

For full details on vital records form the state of Florida, go to:

The main page of this web site provides links to vital records information
for all states, although the depth of the information does vary from state
to state. The Florida page has links which will provide all the information
you will need to understand Florida records.
